THE MOTHERNISTS II: WHO CARES FOR THE 21st CENTURY?

October 12-15th, ANAFORUM presents: ‘The Mothernists II: Who Cares for the 21st Century?’, an international symposium on care work and intergenerational feminist knowledge-sharing held in conjunction with the exhibition ‘Mothernizing ANA: Who Cares for the Future?’ The symposium is co-organized by Lise Haller Baggesen and Deirdre M. Donoghue (m/othervoices) and is co-hosted by Astrid Noacks Ateliers and the The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts

‘The Mothernists II: Who Cares for the 21st Century?’ is the second iteration of ‘The Mothernists’, a transatlantic summit / art exhibition held in The Netherlands in June 2015, which brought together the work and thought of practicing international artists and art historians for the cross pollination of art, philosophy, and maternal theory, practice, and experience.

The Mothernists Conference June 5/6/7 is a three-day-long transatlantic conference, bringing together the work and thought of practicing international artists, art historians, educators, curators and writers on the topic of caring labour and cultural re-production. The Mothernists attempts to open up philosophical, political, aesthetic and social questions made visible through the co-existing practices of mothering and cultural re- production, bringing these into the diverse discourses that the participants professionally as artists, writers, philosophers, curators, historians and educators are part of.
